Flashback Friday: Devon White Robs a Home Run from Leo Gomez

Everyone knows Devon White for “The Catch“. But did you know that he pulled off another buzz-worthy catch during his time with the Toronto Blue Jays?

For this week’s Flashback Friday, we take a look at Devon White’s robbery of a home run off the bat of Leo Gomez from the Baltimore Orioles.

The game in question – July 31st 1994 as the Blue Jays faced off against the Orioles at Camden Yards. Holding onto a slim 6-4 lead, Leo Gomez hit a ball to deep centre field off Tony Castillo that seemed destined to clear the fence.

That was … until Devon White decided to intervene and bring this one back.

This one definitely deserves a number of re-views, as it gets better and better each time. It’s incredible how White not only timed his jump perfectly, but just how far he reached over the fence to bring the ball back from the yard.
