Josh Donaldson’s New Earring Was Inspired by Barry Bonds and Gary Sheffield

Josh Donaldson is a whole new man this year. He has a brand new hairstyle, an adorable new dog and now … a brand new piece of jewellery.

Donaldson arrived at Blue Jays Spring Training camp earlier today sporting a new piece of bling on his left ear; a diamond cross earring. While many of his teammates were surprised to see Donaldson with a pierced ear, he reiterated this was his plan all along.

Sportsnet grabbed the video of Troy Tulowitzki and Justin Smoak’s reaction to Josh Donaldson’s latest addition.

Apparently Donaldson’s new look was not met with universal appeal from fellow Blue Jays.

I suddenly remembered that Josh Donaldson was on Intentional Talk a few months ago and actually made mention he was adding a new earring this year. I guess nobody really took him seriously. But if you head to the 6:45 mark, you’ll hear JD talk drop a hint about what was to come.

“I’ve been hanging out a lot with my boy Gary Sheffield. And it’s a tribute to Barry Bonds as well. I’m going to go with the diamond cross earring this year … a little hangdown piece.

Hey, if there’s anybody on the Blue Jays who could pull off this look, it’s Josh Donaldson.
