Josh Donaldson Debuts Some Brand New White & Gold Cleats

If ever there were a player on the Blue Jays roster to find the perfect combination of function and fashion, it would be Josh Donaldson.

Over the years, he’s made some progressive style choices, both on and off the field. This was just the latest in the Bringer of Rain’s interesting uniform choices.

For the first time this season, not only did Josh Donaldson opt to go with the blue high socks, he also paired them with a brand new pair of white Nike high tops.

The shoes themselves received some mixed reviews (maybe it’s just the white-on-blue-on-white combination), but props to Donaldson for changing things up. It looks like those blue highsocks really need some stripes to even things out. Anyway, here’s another look at the shoes themselves.

Of course, my first immediate comparison went to Steph Curry’s all-white “Chef” Under Armour sneakers. JD’s aren’t nearly as bland as those ones; Donaldson’s at least has some gold detailing on the shoe to give it some semblance of style.

In fact, Josh Donaldson’s shoes made an impact on at least one person: John Gibbons. Here’s what Gibby told reporters during the post-game press conference about his third baseman’s brand new footwear:

Donaldson finished off the evening by hitting his 36th home run of the season. But perhaps more importantly, no errors on the part of Donaldson, who had a rough game at third base just two days prior in Seattle.

Considering how well he played tonight, odds are you’ll see Josh Donaldson sporting those very same cleats tomorrow afternoon, as well.

Bonus Video

I had no idea this video would get the response that it did. So just in case you haven’t seen it already, it’s Josh Donaldson with his walk-up music, like you’ve never seen him before.

I just meant that Donaldson’s shoes remind me of Curry’s.
