Dinosaurs Don’t Throw Their Bats, But Jose Bautista Does

Over two months after the fact and we’re still talking about the “bat flip”. At this point, I’m surprised it hasn’t gotten it’s own 30 for 30 special. Not just Game 5 of the ALDS, the bat flip itself.

Anyway, it’s been a while since that iconic event in Blue Jays history, but we’re beginning to noticed eerie parallels between Jose Bautista’s bat flip and one that may or may not have taken place millions of years prior.

Hat tip to my friend Trevor as he noticed this strangely similar page from a kids book called Syd Hoff’s Dinosaur Stories and More. Among the many things that dinosaurs don’t do, apparently they’re not supposed to show up the other team.

The strange thing is this particular story was published back in 1974; and now this 41-year old story suddenly resonates once again.

At this point, I’m surprised it hasn’t spawned multiple memes featuring Jose Bautista himself, but here are a few to get you going.
