The Impossible Task of Naming Every 2019 Blue Jays Pitcher

If you’ve lost count at how many pitchers the Blue Jays have used in 2019, you’re not alone. The total thus farĀ is 38, which is a new franchise record.

The team has also used 20 different starting pitchers this season, which is the most for any team since the 1915 Philadelphia Athletics.

Some pitchers have come and gone – and others were barely here for a minute – but with 38 names (and growing) on the pitching staff this year, it’s almost impossible to remember all of them without checking Baseball Reference.

So, do you think you can do it? Consider this the ultimate challenge – try to name every single pitcher (both starter and reliever) for the Toronto Blue Jays in 2019. This list also includes the two position players who made pitching appearances this season.

On my first run, I only named 17 of 38 names correctly. Most people should be able name north than 20 names, but if you’re in the 30-plus range, you’re either a cop, a team employee or you’ve memorized the Blue Jays 2019 Baseball Reference page.

I struggled with this! Heck, I do good to remember the names of the new people at work I did get 19, though. After the obvious ones (Sanchez, Stroman, Biagini, Hudson) I got some just randomly typing in names. Others I would’ve got if I knew how to SPELL their names! (Especially Wag…. something ) This quiz was fun!
