MLB Network Ranks Josh Donaldson as the Third Best Player in Baseball

Josh Donaldson plays for the Toronto Blue Jays. Yes, Josh Donaldson plays for the Toronto Blue Jays. Every so often, it bears repeating … because the Blue Jays employ one of the best baseball specimens in the game today.

MLB Network concluded its list of the Top 100 Players in MLB Right Now – which included Blue Jays Troy Tulowitzki (88th) and Aaron Sanchez (78th) – but none as high as Josh Donaldson, ranked third on the list, behind only Clayton Kershaw and Mike Trout.

Unlike MLB Network’s “Shredder”, this list is comprised more so on historical and subjective data, which is why Donaldson ranks so high on the list. He’s been a Top 10 MVP candidate for four years running and promises to put forth another impressive campaign in 2017.

Of all the “pinch me” acquisitions by the Blue Jays over the past few years, Josh Donaldson still tops the list. The fact that the Blue Jays were able to secure an MVP candidate for a few prospects and a maligned third baseman is still beyond comprehension.

A recap of Josh Donaldson’s segment below via MLB Network. Admittedly, it’s much more about Kris Bryant than it is Josh Donaldson, but what more can you really say about JD at this point?
