The 2011 edition of the Home Run Derby wasn’t quite Jose Bautista’s coming out party, but I think a lot of folks south of the border took notice of the Blue Jays slugger.

Without Bautista, Home Run Derby falls short

They may not have gone about it the right way, but ultimately Major League Baseball got what they wanted out of the Home Run Derby: a fan favourite like David Ortiz winning the contest.
