Xander Bogaerts Gets Baffled by Aaron Sanchez’ Curveball

Yesterday, I posted about the sheer speed of Aroldis Chapman’s fastball, and how Devon Travis was miraculously able to get his bat on a 102 MPH heater. Today, we have the opposite end of the spectrum featuring Aaron Sanchez and Xander Bogaerts.

Sanchez has enjoyed great success in the starting rotation this season thanks in part to his two most important pitches; his fastball and his signature curveball. Aaron Sanchez has about 20 MPH variance between his curveball and fastball.

Below, a GIF of Xander Bogaerts’ priceless reaction after swinging and missing on Aaron Sanchez’ signature curveball; clocked in at 77 MPH. Bogaerts just looked on in disbelief, as many batters do.

As you may recall, Marcus Stroman induced a very similar reaction from Eric Hosmer a few years ago after getting him out on a slider.
