GIF: Darwin Barney Bat Flips Like a Boss

TORONTO, CANADA - APRIL 24: Darwin Barney #18 of the Toronto Blue Jays looks on from first base in the third inning during MLB game action against the Oakland Athletics on April 24, 2016 at Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. (Photo by Tom Szczerbowski/Getty Images)

Darwin Barney is the furthest thing from a prolific home run hitter. Perhaps hanging out with perennial sluggers like Jose Bautista, Josh Donaldson and Edwin Encarnacion is rubbing off on Darwin Barney, because he’s starting to get a little bit of that slugger swagger going on.

In case you missed it last night, Darwin Barney let go a pretty amazing bat flip after his home run against the Twins. Barney uncorked one into deep left field, and then proceeded to flip to his bat.

It’s not quite Jose Bautista bat flip level, but it’s still pretty awesome. Since he doesn’t tend to hit home runs all that often, Darwin Barney definitely makes it count when he does.

As a few people noted to me on Twitter, Barney better watch his back … since he clearly disrespected the Twins with his post-home run celebration.

Ian has been writing about the Toronto Blue Jays since 2007. He enjoyed the tail-end of the Roy Halladay era and vividly remembers the Alex Rodriguez “mine” incident. He’ll also retell the story of Game 5 of the ALDS to his kids for the next 20 years.

Looks so casually effortless. I’ll bet ol’ Barn’s been practising in front of a mirror
