GIFS: Darwin Barney’s Aborably Hilarious Slide Into Third Base

They may be out of contention, but this is why we still watch Toronto Blue Jays games in September. For moments like these – Darwin Barney’s adorably hilariously bad slide into third base.

Barney hit a double to the right-centre gap, and while the ball stopped dead on the warning track once it hit the wall, he took the opportunity to stretch a double into a triple. There’s just one issue; his slide into third came up about six feet short.

So like any good ball player, Barney improvised and swam into third base. Honestly, this is one of the funniest moments of the Blue Jays season.

Somehow, Barney still managed to look incredibly photogenic while suffering this gaffe on the base paths.

I’m pretty sure this is exactly why slow motion instant replay was created.

Kudos to Darwin Barney for managing to look good all while panicking his way towards a base … all while making it safe into third. This moment was just a reminder that joy can still be had in watching Blue Jays games this year. Thank you, Darwin.
