Our cowboy in shining armour

Thank you Kevin Millar for rescuing us from what could have been another brutal loss in extra innings. Unfortunately, B.J. Ryan’s collapse in the 9th will overshadow David Purcey’s fairly decent start. Leading up to tonight’s game I was fully prepared to start calling Purcey by his new nickname; “David Purcey: Walker of Texas Rangers”. But Purcey went 5 and 1/3, and was in line for the win before it all came apart in the bottom of the 9th.

Yes, Aaron Hill misplayed that double play ball which lead to 2 of the 3 runs being scored. But Ryan should know better than to leave a meatball out in the middle of the strike zone for Michael Young to tie the game. It sounds like B.J.Ryan’s job might be in question (again) as Jordan Bastian tweets that Cito will likely have a chit-chat to decide the fate of our struggling closer.

But in the meantime, we have our grizzled veteran Kevin Millar to thank for another win. Cowboy up, indeed.

Thanks woodpeck! ESPN Power Rankings showed the Jays some love this week too.

Here.I just hope that Yahoo! follows suit.

    Postseason!

And don’t look now, but the Yanks and Sox are coming.

Let’s start the Pennant(!) Race Scoreboard Watch now.

Tao, I’ve been so glued to watching the Jays that I haven’t noticed the Yankees and Red Sox nipping at our heels.

Also, I’d join the Pennant Race Scoreboard Watch, but I got grilled at work earlier this week because talked about the Jays being in first place. Apparently in many baseball circles it’s a jinx, but I couldn’t help but be excited about the success of our team. Playoffs, indeed!
