High on Offense
Take a look at the box score from any of the previous 3 wins by the Blue Jays, and you might think that there was a huge typo or something seriously wrong with the scorekeepers. But it’s true, the new offensive juggernaut of the American League still leads all teams in runs scored, batting average and home runs. Pinch me.
Over the course of the 4 game series against the Minnesota Twins, the Jays scored a total of 31 runs thanks in part to 56 hits and 8 homeruns. Pinch me again.
Despite all this, Yahoo! Sports Power Rankings doesn’t really give the Blue Jays any love in their weekly rankings as the Jays are all the way down in 14th place. Come on guys, the team with the best record in the American League doesn’t even crack the Top 10? How many $10 tall cans do I have to bribe you guys with to get the Blue Jays to move up a few spots? (The answer: no more than six, hopefully).
As the Blue Jays return home for their second homestand of the season, we’re all still high on offense and high on winning. But unlike a 3 day crack binge, I hope this high lasts all season long.
